The Devils Lake City Commission voted Monday night to give the go ahead on a plan to redesign a section of one of the most heavily traveled roads in town.  The commission voted to allow the state DOT to convert the southern half of College Drive from the underpass out to the Highway 2 intersection from a four lane road down to two lanes with a center turn lane.  Mayor Jim Moe says the state DOT is a big backer of the switch for safety reasons.  But Moe says if residents hate the idea the city does retain the option to drop the plan after a trial period.  Moe says 90% of the cost of the project will be paid for with federal and state funds.  The project is set to be completed in 2025.
